Specifically, it covers the installation of mounting structures used to secure solar panels to the waterproofing membrane, for example, using rails or brackets welded to the waterproofing system.

These operations require a high degree of precision in installation techniques to preserve the integrity of the waterproofing system while ensuring the stability of the photovoltaic system.

The creation of this certification is also intended to clarify the division of responsibilities on construction sites.

In this diagram, the waterproofing company works on the design and implementation of the rooftop integration system, while the supply and installation of photovoltaic modules, as well as the electrical connection, are handled by companies that specialize in solar installation.

A Technical Framework for Securing Facilities

In addition to recognizing the skills of roofers, the certification introduces a a more rigorous technical framework for the installation of photovoltaic systems on flat roofs.

In particular, the processes used must have recognized technical evaluations, such as the Technical Opinions (Atec), ATex or new technology assessments (ETN). Systems that rely solely on ballast, without a technical evaluation, are therefore excluded from the scope of the qualification.

This requirement is intended to ensure the reliability of the installations and to prevent risks associated with improper integration of equipment into the waterproofing system.

Specific requirements for applicant companies

Obtaining this certification is subject to several specific requirements. In particular, companies must demonstrate specific technical expertise, designate a representative with experience in flat roof waterproofing, and demonstrate their expertise through showcase projects.

These projects must demonstrate expertise in photovoltaic integration systems and their compatibility with existing waterproofing systems, particularly with regard to resistance to additional loads and the stability of the supports.
