Local governments in Mayotte can now submit their projects under the 2026 Green Fund. A budget of 5 million euros is earmarked for the region to support investments related to the ecological transition and adaptation to climate change.
In a letter addressed to mayors and presidents of EPCIs, the Directorate for the Environment, Land Use Planning, Housing, and the Sea states that projects must focus, in particular, on climate adaptation, land conservation, territorial balance, energy-efficient renovation, the electrification of energy uses, and local ecological planning.
Depending on the nature of the operations, the Green Fund In particular, it can support energy-efficient renovations of public buildings, improvements to thermal comfort in buildings without air conditioning, flood prevention, the restoration of urban spaces to their natural state, the redevelopment of brownfield sites, and the reinforcement of infrastructure exposed to hurricane-force winds.
In Mayotte, projects may thus involve schools, town halls, public facilities, or—under certain conditions—public housing projects carried out in partnership with a local government.
The 2026 National Guide identifies climate change adaptation, energy-efficient renovations, and land-use efficiency as priorities under the program. It also provides a new funding option in overseas territories for projects aimed at improve thermal comfort in buildings without air conditioning.
The application portal is already open, and applications must be submitted online at the Green Fund's digital platform. Local governments are encouraged to contact state agencies to verify the eligibility of their projects and the conditions applicable to each measure.
