French Guiana regained some momentum in the third quarter of 2025. The business climate indicator rose to 101.5 points<\/strong>, exceeding its long-term average.<\/p>\n

A notable increase in +3.8 points<\/strong> which marks a break in the string of declining quarters. The IEDOM summarizes the period as follows: \u00ab An encouraging rebound despite lingering uncertainty<\/strong> \u00bb.<\/em><\/p>\n

However, this upturn remains fragile. Companies continue to operate in an uncertain environment, hampered by a lack of clarity regarding national policy directions. The institution emphasizes that \u00ab The lack of political and institutional clarity \u2026 is causing significant uncertainty at the local level<\/strong> \u00bb<\/em>, a situation that fosters a wait-and-see attitude and caution.<\/p>\n

On the economic front, trends remain mixed. First, inflation is stabilizing (+0,1 %)<\/em>,<\/strong> but households remain vulnerable to rising food prices (+0,9 %)<\/em> and services (+0,2 %).<\/em><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the job market is tightening: the number of Category A job seekers is rising by 5 %<\/strong>, with a more pronounced increase among those under 25 (+6,4 %)<\/em><\/strong>. Cases of excessive debt are also on the rise (+15.7 % for the quarter).<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

On the business side, entrepreneurial momentum is slowing slightly (\u20133,4 %)<\/em>, even though new cases continue to rise year-over-year (+13,1 %)<\/em>. Failures have reached an alarming level: 152 companies<\/strong> ceased operations over the past year, a jump of +133,8 %<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Domestic demand reflects this climate of uncertainty: consumption is contracting, and imports of consumer goods are declining by \u201311,8 %<\/strong>, and only car sales are showing a temporary uptick.<\/p>\n

Despite these tensions, French Guiana\u2019s economy is not at a standstill. Several sectors \u2014 manufacturing, services, space-related activities<\/em> \u2014 show stability or a slight improvement, painting a picture of transition rather than a sharp break.<\/p>\n

All in all, French Guiana is making progress, but on a ridge line.<\/strong> The improvement in the business climate offers a breath of fresh air, but whether this trend takes hold will depend largely on the return to a stable political and fiscal environment.<\/p>\n
