Genie, a division of Terex Corporation, a global leader in lifting solutions, announced that it has begun delivering 135 Genie boom and scissor lifts to the Saudi group Al Majal Al Arabi, a leading provider of facility management and general maintenance services, for rapid deployment at mosque sites in Mecca and Medina.
These aerial work platforms, which were purchased by Al Majal Al Arabi, are being delivered by Genie's authorized dealer, Middle East Development Company (Medco).
The order includes Genie S-60 J and S-80 J telescopic boom lifts, which will be used for exterior facade work and general off-site maintenance, GS E-Drive scissor lifts for interior maintenance, and Z-60 DC electric articulating boom lifts for general facilities management and cleaning tasks.
All of these aerial work platforms will be deployed at sites in Mecca and Medina for routine cleaning and maintenance, a senior official said.
“Medco is proud to be the leading supplier of Genie equipment to the Two Holy Mosques in Mecca and Medina,” said its CEO, Emad Mukhalalaty.
“This is one of the most prestigious and demanding projects we have been awarded in recent years, and we believe that serving the holy mosques is not only a duty and a responsibility, but an honor that we cherish and must uphold,” he said.
According to him, Genie’s ability to meet technical specifications, safety requirements, and delivery needs were major deciding factors in the decision to purchase Medco’s aerial work platforms.
It was also helpful that the Medco team understood the various applications of these platforms in mosques and was able to recommend specific equipment to best meet the project’s needs, Mukhalalaty said.
Sharbel Kordahi, Managing Director for the Middle East and Sales Director at AWP ME, said, “It is indeed a great honor for Genie to have been chosen as the supplier for the two holy mosques.”
Mohammed Kamal, regional director of Medco Riyadh, said: «We believe that winning this contract was not a matter of luck, but rather the result of a thorough understanding of our clients” needs and the insights gained from several on-site visits to inspect the most difficult-to-reach areas in The Haramain (the holy site).”
«Our coordination with Genie’s regional sales team was also crucial; the equipment met Al Majal’s specific technical requirements, and we were able to deliver it within the required timeframe to win this large-scale project,» Kamal noted.
According to him, Genie’s high-quality, innovative products enable optimal productivity at the safest heights! And Medco guarantees maximum machine availability and reliability 24 hours a day.
“Each piece of equipment has key features that make it the right lift for specific tasks at these historic sites. The S-60 J and S-80 J telescopic boom lifts, for example, are lighter than comparable booms in their class, making them ideal for work on sensitive surfaces, while the Z-60 DC articulating boom lifts provide overhead access to hard-to-reach areas. »Because they are electric, the Z-60 DC machines are also quiet and emission-free, making them ideal for indoor use as well,” he explained.
Similarly, Genie GS E-Drive scissor lifts allow Medco’s customer, Al Majal Al Arabi, to work indoors or outdoors, he added. —TradeArabia News Service.
